How to Use This Calculator
There are two modes. Count Business Days takes a start and end date and tells you exactly how many working days fall between them. Add Business Days takes a start date and a number of business days to add, then shows the resulting calendar date — useful for "this order ships in 5 business days" or "response required within 10 business days."
What Counts as a Business Day?
A business day is any Monday through Friday. This calculator excludes Saturdays and Sundays. It does not exclude public holidays — holidays vary by country, state, employer, and year. If your use case requires holiday exclusion, note the holidays in your date range and subtract them from the result manually.
How Many Business Days in a Month?
Most months contain 21–23 business days. The exact count depends on the month's length and which day of the week the month starts on. February in a common year has 20 business days (28 days ÷ 7 days/week = 4 full weeks = 20 weekdays). A 31-day month can have 21–23 business days. Use the "Count Business Days" mode with the first and last day of any month for a precise answer.
Common Business Day Scenarios
Contract deadlines: Many legal and commercial contracts specify response times in business days. "Reply within 10 business days" from a Monday arrives on the Monday two weeks later. From a Wednesday, it's the Wednesday two weeks later.
Shipping and fulfillment: "Ships in 3–5 business days" is standard for most e-commerce. From an order placed on a Friday evening (counted as the next Monday), 5 business days later is the following Friday.
Payroll and invoicing: Net-30 payment terms usually mean 30 calendar days, but some contracts specify business days. Net-30 business days from the 1st of a month extends into the second month.
Project planning: Sprint lengths in agile development are typically measured in business days (10 business days = 2-week sprint), making business day counting essential for milestone tracking.

Exactly 15 business days, regardless of the starting day. Three full weeks always contain exactly 15 weekdays and 6 weekend days.
Does this calculator account for public holidays?
No — only weekends are excluded. Subtract any holidays in the date range from the result manually.
How many business days are in a year?
Approximately 260–262 business days per year (52 weeks × 5 days, plus 1 or 2 extra weekdays depending on how January 1 falls). The exact count is 260 or 261 in most years.
